With 2005 coming to a close, let’s look ahead to 2006 at what is sure to be another stellar year for film & TV production in Vancouver.

HNR can now confirm that Michael Bay (Armageddon, The Rock) is set to roll into town to shoot his next mega flick, the live action version of Transformers! Set construction in North Vancouver is set to begin in February 2006 with a Spring start tipped.

George Clooney’s Wind Chill has set up shop at Lions Gate Studios for a February 1 thru March 15 shoot under director Gregory Jacobs (Criminal). At this point Clooney is only involved in a producing capacity but there are rumours he may have a small role in the film. The project, from Revolution Studios, revolves around two college students who share a ride home for the holidays. When they break down on a deserted stretch of road, they're preyed upon by the ghosts of people who have died there.

Chaos Theory starring Ryan Reynolds, Emily Mortimer and Stuart Townsend, have locked down production dates of January 28 thru March 24 and will also shoot at Lions gate Studios. Castle Rock Entertainment is producing with Marcos Siega (Underclassman, Pretty Persuasion) directing. It's a story within a story about an obsessively organized man (Reynolds) who finds out he is sterile - and that his daughter was fathered by his best friend.

The Butterfly Effect 2, the sequel to the 2003 cult hit in which a person can change the past via remembering their forgotten memories, is following in the original's footsteps and prepping for a Vancouver shoot. The direct-to-DVD sequel is being helmed by John R. Leonetti (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) and will film January 9 thru Febuary 7, again, at Lions Gate Film Studios.
No word on casting yet, other than Ashton Kutcher will not be reprising his role.

Night at the Museum starring Ben Stiller has set filming dates of February 21 thru April 13 at The Bridge Studios in Burnaby. Sharp-eyed readers may remember that the project was originally set to film in Montreal, but moved to Vancouver partially so that the production could tap the Digital Animation and Visual Effects tax credit offered by BC, and partially because of Vancouver's proximity to LA. Shawn Levy (Cheaper by the Dozen, Just Married) is directing the film about a bumbling security guard (Stiller) at the Museum of Natural History who accidentally lets loose an ancient curse that causes the animals and insects on display to come to life and wreak havoc.
