Walt Disney Co. has signed the Smallville writing team of Al Gough/Miles Millar to draft a screenplay for a feature based on theme park attraction, The Jungle Cruise, one of 22 original rides designed by Walt "Mickey Mouse" Disney when he opened his first 'toon' theme park, 'Disneyland', July 17, 1955.
The Jungle Cruise riverboat ride, surrounded by dense vegetation and creature animatronics is also available at Disney theme parks 'Magic Kingdom', 'Tokyo Disneyland' and 'Hong Kong Disneyland'.
The California version of the ride includes a vicious piranha attack as well as a scene where rampaging gorillas ransack a camp and throw dynamite into the river.
