Producers Kirk Shaw and James Shavick have set November 6 as start-date for the action adventure TV series Young Blades, focusing on swashbuckling 'Musketeers', set in 17th century Paris.
22 hours will air on CHUM in Canada and PAX TV in the US, with Sony owning certain foreign rights.
Insight Film's Shaw says the budget for each episode is in the $1-million range, thanks to the 12.5% 'regional labor bonus' for locating the series at a 37,000-square-foot facility in Maple Ridge, BC.
Young Blades stars Canadian Karen "Mutant X" Cliche as a tough and beautiful woman posing as a man among a group of Musketeer swordsmen.
Shaw's Insight Film & Video and Shavick Entertainment also began shooting (October 21) the Regent Entertainment thriller Fatal Reunion, a film about 'fidelity', starring Erika "Baywatch" Eleniak and David "Zolar" Millbern. CHUM have acquired all rights to exclusively air the $1.6-million MOW across Canada.
During the summer, Shaw and Shavick also produced the Regent films Snowman's Pass starring Marc "V" Singer and Too Cool for Christmas starring George "Godfather 3" Hamilton. Other Regent films for 2004, include baseball story Third Man Out and sci-fi actioner Deadly Skies.
An ambitious production slate for 2005 TBA.
