As Archie Comics continues developing their numerous proprietary characters for film adaptations, including revamping their comic books with a more 'realistic' look, the publication this August and September of the 2-part Archie Marries Veronica: The Proposal, written by Michael Uslan attempts to solve a question:
Why did 'Archie Andrews' choose 'Veronica Lodge' over blonde 'Betty Cooper'...?
"...'Archie Marries Veronica Part 2: The Wedding' is the epic that hurtles readers into Archie's future. And it's a future where Riverdale's favorite rich girl wins his hand in marriage!
With 'Mr. Lodge' footing the bill, it's proving to be the most spectacular wedding ever to hit Riverdale... and perhaps the country!
The guys all look spiffy in their tuxes, and the girls are gorgeous in their gowns... but just who is Betty's date, 'Henry'?
This emotionally charged tale will tug at heartstrings as readers witness Archie's poignant heart-to-heart talk with 'Betty' before the nuptials, the choked-up parents of the betrothed, and a surprise ending..."
Archie debuted in "Pep Comics" #22, December 22, 1941, illustrated by Bob Montana and written by Vic Bloom, with the intent by comics publisher John L. Goldwater to appeal to fans of the Andy Hardy movies starring actor Mickey Rooney.
"Archie Comics", the title of the company's longest running publication, first appeared on newstands in 1942.
Archie Comics controls numerous super-hero properties including "The Fly", "The Shield" and "The Mighty Crusaders"...
