According to SneakPeek.Ca, director James Cameron's upcoming 3D epic Avatar will run for 150 minutes, with an additional 6 minutes tagged at the end for credits. Cameron's last dramatic feature, Titanic ran for three hours and 14 minutes.
Avatar will screen in 3D at 2,500 locations on approximately 3,500 screens in North America and in 1,500 other locations in 2D.
Imax has not scheduled another movie into its circuit until the first week of March, in anticipation of a long run, starting December 18.
Internationally the film is set to bow December 16, with new posters designed for each language territory.
Domestic movie theaters, in addition to paying a 'premium' to Fox, are also expected to commit to an eight-week initial run for Avatar, reportedly budgeted at $230 million.
Fox is also expected to spend $100 million to advertise, market and promote the film, through partnerships with Panasonic (launching its new line of 3D TV sets) and licensees Mattel for toys and Ubisoft for games.
